Mattie M. Nelson was born on September 14, 1932, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Flora Moultrie and Arthur Williams.
Mattie received her formal education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She was a homemaker.
Mattie was a member of Christ Fellowship Church.
Mattie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Deacon Isaac Nelson. This union was blessed with six children. Deacon Nelson and two children preceded her in death.
On Saturday, February 20, 2010, Mattie went peacefully into her eternal home of Heaven at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, SC.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are: four daughters, Carrie B. Maxwell, Trudella Nelson of Moncks Corner, SC, Margaret Middleton (William) of Bonneau, SC and Christine Nelson of Moncks Corner, SC; five sisters, Evelina Byrd (Jerry) of St. Petersburg, FL, Eartha Lee McQueen of Asheville, NC, Mary West and Martha Butler both of West Palm Beach, FL, and Magalene McKelvey of Virginia; one brother, Donald Moultrie (Janice) of West Palm Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Lauretta, Ricky, Sean, Brian (Courtney) and Phillip; three sisters-in-law, Elease Washington (David), Susan Nelson both of Bonneau, SC, and Eartha Lee Glover (Arthur) of Charleston, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Mattie was preceded in death by her siblings, Raymond Williams and Anna Lee Whitaker.
