Biography
Earnestine Joyner Sumpter was born May 16, 1947, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Joyner and Ethel Coad Joyner.
“Teen”, as she was affectionately called, received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. She was a member of Anderson Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, SC.
Earnestine was united in holy matrimony to John Sumpter who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with four children.
On July 23, 2011, in Charleston, SC, Earnestine was called home to eternal rest.
“Teen” was a delight to her friends and a joy to her family. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Reggie Joyner (Sandra), Jamal Sumpter, Felicia Sumpter and John Sumpter (Latasha Williams); one brother, Sammy Joyner; twelve grandchildren; one aunt, Geneva Code; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
