IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Adam Sinclair
Jamison
August 9, 1940 – July 12, 2020
Adam Sinclair Jamison, Jr., affectionately known as "Bubba", "Shorty" and "AJ", the oldest of four children born on August 9, 1940 in Berkeley County, South Carolina to the late Adam Phillip, Sr. and Lorine Sanders Jamison, quietly slipped away on Sunday morning, July 12, 2020 at his residence in Moncks Corner, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Anthony Taylor.
Adam was a member of Greater St. James AME Church, Summerville, SC.
Adam received his education in the Berkeley County School System and graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1958, where he was also a school bus driver. After graduating and relocating to Brooklyn, NY, Adam started a career in a print shop in New York City where he worked for five and a half years. After many years, he became interested in the area of public safety and worked in various capacities with EMS for Kings County Hospital in NYC for approximately ten years. After returning to South Carolina, Adam continued his work in public services; he was the first African American fireman for the Town of Moncks Corner where he worked for six years. He was hired by Sheriff MC Cannon as a Deputy Sheriff and in 1982 graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, Columbia, SC. In 1994, Adam was also hired as Chief of Police for St. George Police Department for a period of time. He returned to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department where he served until his retirement as Lieutenant in 2008. He was recognized at the 5th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Moncks Corner Baptist Church on February 17, 2019 which was organized by Lt. Arthur L. Caldwell.
Adam was a "jokester" and even after his departure from this life, we are still enjoying so many of his jokes. Adam had a love for animals, especially his horses, Cody, JD, and the Colonel. He was a member of the Easy Riders Club of Moncks Corner, SC. Adam also had a love for cars, especially the Grand Prix/Cadillac. He did a little car racing in Brooklyn, NY, and continued racing for a period of time with his brother-in-law, Otto Spruill, here in South Carolina.
He was loved by his wife, Anna, who took very good care of him during his illness, and went as far to say that she learned humbleness from him during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Adam met and fell in love with his wife of 59 years, Anna Codes whom he leaves to cherish his memories. They were united in holy matrimony on August 22, 1961. To this union, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters whom he loved with all his heart, Debbie Jones and Rosalind Jamison, who thought no one or no place was good enough for their Dad. He also had another daughter Desiree Miller. A grandson, Terrance Brown, who he thought the sun rose and set in him, and granddaughter, Shanté Jamison. A great-granddaughter, Ka'Maria, his dessert maker and great-grandson, Kristian Brown...his cook and caregiver who took good care of "Papa". A son-in-law, Nathaniel Jones. His siblings, Herlene (James) McMillian, Asiley (Curtis V.) Jack, and Frances Taylor, who would call and check on her brother every day. An Aunt, Nufferall Goodwin and Uncle, Henry L. Sanders. Brothers-in-law, Sam (Barbara) Codes, Robert Codes, Fred (Marcy) Codes, Terry (Annette) Codes, Leon (Carolyn) Codes, Douglas Codes, Norman Smith, and Otto Spruill. Sisters-in-law, Rose Smith, Mary (Jimmy) Chavis, and Shirley Codes. Three adopted children: Gwendolyn Wynn, Quiana Codes Council, and Gunnery Sergeant Jahbari Codes. Devoted cousin and friend, Delores Limehouse. Next door neighbor and cousin, Clarence Jamison. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, as well as all of the caregivers who provided services during his illness.
There are too many names to list or recognize, therefore, the family would like to say "Thank You" to everyone for all acts of love, kindness, generosity, and services shown towards Adam and his family during his illness and at the present time.
