Mother Addie Lucille Morant White was born on October 4, 1919 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Lonza Jefferson and Rosa Nelson Shirah. She departed this life on December 23, 2021 at her home in Bonneau, SC.
"Trudy", as she was known to family and friends, received her education in the Berkeley County public schools. She was a woman of many talents, including farming, gardening, canning and cooking. Addie was also a caregiver to many.
Addie was first united in holy matrimony to Richard Morant. She later married Willie White.
Mother Addie was a member of Jehovah Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health began to decline. She loved the Lord and enjoyed singing and shouting. She was a strong prayer warrior and a devoted member of the Praying Band. She was recognized as the Oldest Living Member of Jehovah Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a woman of strong faith.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Alice Morant Edwards; two sisters-in-law, Ernestine Wilder and Rosa Bell Jefferson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren; three caregivers, Deloris Simmons, Patricia Middleton and Mary Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (Moncks Corner). Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at O. Allen Gethers Memorial Chapel, Gethers Funeral Home, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THE VIEWING AND THE SERVICE. Burial will be in Jehovah Baptist Church Cemetery, 704 Dennis Ridge Road, Bonneau, SC 29431.
