Obituary

Albert Mitchell, Jr. of the Liberty Hill Community of North Charleston, SC entered into eternal life and peacefully went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 21, 2009. His parting words were, "It is Finished." He was born in Atlantic City, NJ, son of the late Albert and Lillian Mitchell, Sr. He was laid to rest on Friday, August 28, 2009. Mr. Mitchell served in the U.S. Navy and was Honorably Discharged on the November 29, 1956. While serving his country, he was awarded certificates in: Biological and Chemical Warfare, Firefighting, Atomic Warfare and Damage Control. He successfully completed courses of instruction from Trident Technical College in Basic Blueprint Reading and Basic Industrial Math 1 and received a Certificate from the Industrial Division of the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education of the State of South Carolina in Diesel Engine Assembly. He was employed by and retired from Cummins Diesel and Engine. Albert will be remembered by many people for his kind and generous spirit but especially by those whose paths he crossed and lives he touched. "Mitch", as he was fondly called, words cannot express how much you will be missed. We have shared so much over the years and you have given us gifts we will treasure always. We are thankful to God that we were blessed by your kind and caring spirit. He was preceded in death by: his father and mother-in-law, Rev. Charles Augustus Grant, Jr. and Albertha Telfare Grant; siblings, William "Billy" Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell and Barbara Mitchell; and a sister-in-law, Marylou Murrell. Survivors include: his wife, Rachel Mitchell; children, Wayne Richard Mitchell of New York, Donna Mitchell Sutton of Charleston, SC and Steffon (Sandra Finley) Mitchell of Oklahoma; his siblings, Rayenard Mitchell of Atlantic City, NJ, Mildred Franklin of Trenton, NJ, Rosa Kelly of Atlantic City, NJ and Lillian Johnson of Brigantine, NJ; his grandchildren, Ranzo Mitchell of Georgia, Gerrod Mitchell currently serving in Afghanistan, Stefanie Mitchell of Georgia, Minnazah Mitchell of New York and Brittnay Mitchell of Charleston, SC; six great-grandchildren; his eldest niece, Stephanie "Princess" Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Marva G. Ivey of Georgia, Dr. Lucinda Grant-Griffin of New York, Etta G. Ferguson of Charleston, SC and Margaret G. Carter of Georgia; brother-in-law, Charles Bobby Grant of Charleston, SC; a devoted son-in-law, Ronald Sutton; aunts-in-law, Ethel Telfare Randolph and Annabelle Telfare Lazenbury and devoted friends, Naomi Pendagrass, Rev. Ronald Rivers and Lease Bennett Reed.
