With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Mr. Albert Carey Richmond, Sr. of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Albert, the son of Joel Richmond and Georgianna (Borden) Richmond, was born August 18, 1931, and he entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Albert, affectionately known as "Bert" to his family and friends, proudly carried the title of "Papa" among his grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly. They often share cherished memories and personal stories that reflect the special bond they had with him.

Albert attended Cordesville School and later married the love of his life, Earline Richmond, who preceded him in death. Together, Albert and Earline shared 68 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with seven children, building a legacy rooted in love, faith, and family.

A devoted husband and father, Albert always placed his family first. He was a quiet and humble man who found great joy in the outdoors. Whether watching the changing seasons, observing wildlife, or simply appreciating the beauty of nature, he found peace and contentment in God's creation.

Albert was also known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He rarely missed a day of work and began each morning with purpose, returning home each evening with a smile. He worked faithfully at Westvaco for 30 years and, before that, spent 15 years driving log trucks for a local company.

His faith was an important part of his life. Albert loved attending church and was a familiar presence every Sunday, often seated on the pew to the right of the pulpit attentively listening to the Pastor’s Sermon. As a Steward of Irving Chapel AME Church, Albert was a devoted and faithful servant who actively contributed as a member of the Grounds Committee and diligently assisted with the collection of tithes and offerings.

Although Albert lived a quiet and unassuming life, his influence was profound. Through his unwavering love, dedication, and faithfulness, he left an enduring impact on his family and all who were blessed to know him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Joel Richmond and George Ballard, and his sisters Mable Lloyd (Teddy), Stella Boyce, Olive Reid (Sam), Anna Richmond, and sister-cousin, Georgianna Lloyd (Roosevelt).

Mr. Richmond leaves to cherish his memory his children, Bertine Richmond, A. C. Richmond (Retha), Thelma R. Tyler, Theresa Ann Richmond, Josephine Richmond, Georgianna Richmond, and Willa Mae Richmond; twelve grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; his brother, Stanley Richmond; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Gethers Funeral Home, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Irving Chapel AME Church, 316 Irving Chapel Road, Cordesville, SC. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
