Obituary

Mrs. Alma Manigault Major, daughter of Phillip Manigault and Dora Hill Manigault, was born August 24, 1924 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She departed this life on April 4, 2021 at her home.

Alma attended the public schools of Berkeley County. She was employed as a child care provider.

Alma was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Pinopolis, SC where she served on the Usher Board and taught Sunday School.

Alma was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. James David Major. This union was blessed with six children.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Godbolt and Ms. Pamela Major; four sons, Mr. Thaddeus Major, Mr. Larry Major, Mr. Sims (Veronica) Major and Mr. Ralph Major (Rachel); granddaughters who were reared in the home, Audrey Major, Anita Major Tankard and Deborah Handy; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband, James Major, and two granddaughters, Beverly Major and Juanita Samuels.

Graveside Service will be held Sunday, April 11, 2021, 12:30 p.m., at Old Nazareth Cemetery, Pinopolis, SC. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gethersfh

Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing at the service, as per CDC guidelines for COVID-19.

There will be no public viewing.
