IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alma S.
Middleton
November 22, 1934 – December 3, 2018
Deaconess Alma Snipe Middleton was the second of seven children born to Deacon Thomas Snipe, Sr. and Hattie Green Snipe. She was born on November 22, 1934, in Bonneau, South Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC.
Alma was reared in a Christian home, and her parents taught their children about Christ; therefore, Alma began her Christian walk at an early age. She was a member of Jehovah Baptist Church, where she served as the Sunday School Teacher, Member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir Member, President of the Women's Auxiliary, and a member of the Deaconess Board.
Alma received her education in the Berkeley County School System and was a graduate of Russellville High School. She furthered her studies in Elementary Education at Morris College in Sumter, SC.
On October 22, 1957, Alma was joined in Holy Matrimony to April Middleton, Jr. They were blessed with three beautiful children.
In 1973, Alma relocated back to Ladson, South Carolina from Brooklyn, New York. She was employed at Sears until she retired in November 1992. Alma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to all.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Deacon April Middleton, Jr.; and two brothers, JC and Harold.
Alma leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted children, Cynthia Bellamy, Harvey Middleton (Stacy) and Jennifer Mumford (Straussi); devoted siblings, Thomas Snipe, Jr. (Lucille), John Snipe (Janie), Will Snipe, and Loretta Snipe; two uncles, Joe Green and Frank Green (Edna); two aunts, Ernatha Coaxum (Joseph) and Rosa Milligan; sister-in-law, Eva Gadsden; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
