Alonia Reid
Frazier
May 27, 1939 – June 17, 2022
Alonia Reid Frazier went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 17, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and a "fervent" servant of the Lord.
Alonia was born May 27, 1939 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Rebecca Nesbitt Reid and Charlie Reid.
Alonia received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC, and was a 1958 graduate of Berkeley Training High School. After graduation, she moved to New York City, NY, where she was employed by the United States Post Office in Manhattan, NY. She also worked as a Dietician/Nutritionist at the Brownsville School for Young Mothers in Brooklyn, NY.
Alonia was an active member of Brownsville Community Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY and served faithfully on various committees.
Upon her retirement in 1983 from the Post Office, Alonia returned home to Moncks Corner, SC, and immediately became an active member of Moncks Corner AME Church where she met Isaiah "Ike" Frazier. They later were united in Holy Matrimony on July 23, 1984, thus blending two families. Alonia was a dedicated member of Moncks Corner AME and worked in many organizations to include: Senior Choir, Steward, Golden Circle, and the Kitchen/Hospitality Committee. She served faithfully until her health began to decline.
Alonia was employed as a Cafeteria Cook for the Berkeley County School District until her second retirement. She enjoyed many hobbies, including traveling, dancing, sewing and singing, but her passion was COOKING! Her food was delicious, and she was famous for her macaroni and cheese, red rice, fish sandwiches and selling dinners.
Alonia was a kind and compassionate woman who loved her family, church and community. She will be greatly missed.
