Alton Duke Hawkins, Jr. was born February 22, 1956, a son of the late Alton and Iva Bell Washington Hawkins. Alton was preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Hawkins and one sister, Linda Hawkins Morgan.
Alton was a graduate of Macedonia High School Class of 1974. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged.
Alton was a construction worker and a welder. He was a true Dallas Cowboys fan.
Alton was confirmed as a member of Liberty Reformed Episcopal Church.
Alton married Wilhemena Smith on May 20, 1995.
Alton departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
Alton will be forever remembered by: his wife, Wilhemena S. Hawkins; one daughter, Cortney Jessika Hawkins; one son, Kaelin Demontae Hawkins; four sisters, Ella Middleton, Pamela Hawkins, Sharon (Eddie) Mazyck and Lisa (Steffany) Beauford; one brother, Victor Barry Hawkins; father-in-law, Willie Smith; three sisters-in-law, Janie B. Williams, Mona (Alphonso) Wynn and Freedonia Hawkins; two brothers-in-law, Minister Willie Levi (Daphae) Smith and Sandy (Latanya) Smith; aunt, Shirley Washington; uncle, Calvin Beauford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 27, 2019, 10:00 a.m., at Liberty Reformed Episcopal Church, 3822 North Highway 17A, Jamestown, SC. Burial will be in Washington Memorial Cemetery, Jamestown, SC. There will be no viewing.
