r. Alvin Sumlin
was born on June 10, 1960 in Rockmart, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mable Sumlin and the late Calvin McCrary, Sr. He departed this life on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at his residence.
Alvin
received his education in the public schools of Polk County, GA. He was employed at Lawn-O-Green as a landscaper. Prior to this, he was a professional scuba diver.
He
was united in matrimony to Tinika Holmes on February 16, 2013. Alvin and Tinika were foster parents of many children but never had any children of their own.
Alvin
accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member of Freewill Holiness Church where he attended church faithfully.
Alvin
was very active and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He liked kickboxing and earned a black belt in Karate. Alvin will be remembered for his beautiful sense of humor, loving heart, true spirit and his strong faith in God. He will be greatly missed by many.
Alvin
leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Tinika Sumlin; five brothers, Calvin McCrary, Jr., Dennis McCrary, Bobby J. McCrary, Sr., Victor L. Clark and Samuel (Marie) Williams; three sisters, Vivian Whatley, Sandra Clark, and Stephanie (Michael) L. Washington; cousin and best friend, Bruce Wilson; special cousins, Ann Wilson and Debbie Wilson; mother and father-in-law, Esau and Helen Branch; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Alvin
was preceded in death by a brother, John Leonard Jackson.
