With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Andrew Cornelius Simmons of Jamestown, South Carolina, who peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Mr. Simmons was a man of diverse interests and passions. He found joy in fishing, western shows, golf, basketball, baseball, NASCAR racing and cherished the spirited games of the Washington Commanders. These pursuits reflected a life lived with enthusiasm and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures.
He leaves behind treasured memories and a loving legacy, held dear by his devoted wife, Mrs. Audrey Simmons; his loving mother, Mrs. Evelyn Simmons. He is survived by his children: Lavelle Phyall, Latisha Wilson, Sharonda Wilson, Andrew C. Simmons, Jr., Lamont Wilson, Andre Durell Simmons, Letonya Nixon, and Ashley Nixon Miller, along with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Simmons also rests in the affectionate remembrance of his siblings: Deacon Roosevelt "Rabb" Greene and his wife Mary, Almena Gourdine, Otis Greene, Vivian Liddell and her husband Rudy, and Arnold Simmons and his wife Gladys. The extended family includes his mother-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Nixon, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
A viewing to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Simmons will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gethers Funeral Home, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at The Steel Shed, 116 Steel Shed Lane, Jamestown, South Carolina. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gethersfh. Interment will follow at Jerusalem Baptist Cemetery in Jamestown, South Carolina.
We kindly ask that all who knew and loved Mr. Simmons keep his family close in their prayers during this time of reflection and remembrance.
