Mother Ann Bernice Brown Holmes, daughter of the late Christine Green Brown, was on born February 25, 1935 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She transitioned to eternal life with the Lord on August 26, 2014 in Moncks Corner, SC. Bernice received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. She was employed as a cook with the Dock Restaurant and later with the Berkeley Restaurant from where she retired. Bernice was united in holy matrimony to Oliver Holmes on June 25, 1955. This union was blessed with nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Johnell Holmes and great-granddaughter, Jaylessa Deweese. Bernice accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Freewill Holiness Church. She served faithfully on the Mother Board and Senior Choir. Bernice will be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering faith in God. She will be greatly missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children: Jessie "JC" and Linda Brown of Moncks Corner, SC, Ricky Holmes of Oxford, England, Oliver Jr. and Janie Holmes, Bobby and Elizabeth Holmes, Susan Johnson, John and Lisa Holmes, Paul and Dorothy Holmes, Helen and Esau Branch, and Ruth Holmes and Mark all of Moncks Corner, SC; 41 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Arthur and Dorothy Holmes of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
