"Ann" Nelson White
September 17, 1938 – December 11, 2020
Annie Mae Nelson White, a daughter of the late Henry Nelson and Oree F. Hemingway Nelson, was born on September 17, 1938 in Green Sea, South Carolina. Shortly after, the family moved to Bonneau, SC Carolina. She was called home to rest on December 11, 2020.
Ann, as known to many, attended the schools in Berkeley County.
At an early age, she became a member of Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church. After relocating to Charleston, SC, Ann became a member of St. Peters A.M.E. Church, North Charleston, SC. She served on the Usher Board and on the Kitchen Committee until her health declined.
Annie was united in holy matrimony to Ernest White on September 2, 1962.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, William E. Nelson, Sr. (Myrtle) of North Charleston, SC; one daughter, Cheryl D. Harris (Oscar, Sr.) of Jacksonville, FL; one adopted son, Travis Brown of North Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Shcharansky M. Varner, Aneda M. Nelson, Edwina K. Nelson, Takahia J. Harris, Oscar Harris III and William E. Nelson, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Keshawn K. Clarke, Jr. and Faith C. Clarke Nelson; two Goddaughters, Juanita D. Gross and Ojetta Harper; one Godson, Theryl Middleton; special extended family, Steve and Sheri Wagner and family; and a host of cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held Friday, December 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Carmel AME Church Cemetery, 1059 Old Black Oak Road, Moncks Corner, SC. As per CDC guidelines for COVID-19, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing at the viewing and service.
