Obituary

Mother Annie Bryant Gaillard was born on August 6, 1924 to Jesse Gethers and Jule Burgess in Russellville, SC. She departed this life July 22, 2010 in Pineville, SC. She attended public school in Berkeley County. Annie received the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized. As a member of Jehovah Baptist Church in Bonneau, SC, she served her Lord and Savior diligently and was an active member of the Usher Board. In 1944, Annie joined in holy matrimony with Mr. Johnny Bryant. This union was blessed with three children, Jannie, Vivian, and Benjamin. Annie became a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church after being joined in holy matrimony to Artopee Gaillard in 1954. She served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Cooper River Association Usher Union No. 4. She loved teaching Sunday School, singing on the Pilgrim Gospel and No. 2 Choirs, attending prayer service, and participating in Bible Study. Affectionately known as "Mama Ann" to family and friends, Annie was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife. She provided day care service for many children and was well known for her crispy fried chicken and sweet coconut pie. Mother Annie B. Gaillard will remain forever in the hearts of her three (3) children, Mrs. Jannie L. (Chance, deceased) Nesbitt of Pineville, SC, Mrs. Vivian B. (Nathaniel) Pinckney of Cross, SC, and Mr. Benjamin (Rev. Edna) Bryant of Pineville, SC; her ten (10) grandchildren, Dr. Renée N. (Larry) Jefferson of Charleston, SC who was raised in the home, Desiree L. Nesbitt of Atlanta, GA, Audrey Nesbitt of Atlanta, GA, Crystal B. (Randall) Boone of Dalton, GA, Benjamin (Shonda) Whitaker of Columbia, SC, Benjamin L. (Rosalind) Bryant of Janesville, WI, Marsha E. Bryant of Wheatley Heights, NY, Chance B. (Teneshia) Nesbitt of Memphis, TN, Evondra A. Pinckney of Moncks Corner, SC, and Hope P. (James) Williams of Orangeburg, SC; thirteen (13) great-grandchildren, one (1) great great-grandchild; two aunts, Mrs. Alice Prioleau of Pineville, SC and Mrs. Kate (Isiah) Gourdine of Pineville, SC; one (1) special cousin, Mrs. Lottie Mae Ravenell of Russellville, SC; two god-children, Mrs. Patricia R. Butler of Russellville, SC and Mrs. Deborah "Donna" Williams of Salters, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Sally Reid, husbands, uncle Andrew Burgess, and beloved sister Ella Mae Almon.
