Sister Annie Mae Smalls McKinney was born on February 8, 1943 in Pineville, SC, a daughter of the late Robert and Lucy Judge Smalls. On Thursday evening, December 14, 2017, she peacefully ended her earthly journey at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Day Dawn Baptist Church.
Annie received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She later moved to Miami, FL and was employed by Swans.
Annie was united in Holy Matrimony to Edward Austin McKinney in Miami, FL. To this union, three children, Patricia, Edward and Jeffrey, were born.
After returning to South Carolina, Annie was employed at St. Stephen Knitwear and Wooten Hunting Club, St. Stephen, SC.
In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by four brothers: Frank, Edmond, David and Aaron Smalls; and one sister, Della Prioleau.
Those left to cherish her memories are: her husband of 53 years, Edward McKinney of Pineville, SC; one daughter, Patricia Footman of Cross, SC; two sons, Edward (Suzy) McKinney of St. Stephen, SC and Jeffrey (Joyce) McKinney of Newberry, SC; two sisters, Nancy Thompson and Patricia (John) Judge of Pineville, SC; three brothers, Robert (Ronell) Smalls, Thurman (Christine) Smalls of Summerton, SC and Wilson Brown of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren: Keba (Dymond), Damian (Shernay), Austin, Dailyn, Jamari, Jamaal, Jaquez, and Jaquan; five great-grandchildren: Malichi, Khloe, Jaylin, Latroy and Zyaun; sister-in-law, Yvonne McKinney; brothers-in-law, Eric McKinney, Lorenzo McKinney, Kelson (Alstine)McKinney and Clarence Prioleau; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
