I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" -II Timothy 4:6-7 Annie Mae Savage Wright, a lovely daughter given by the Lord to Herbert and Annie Rollerson Savage, was born in Bonneau, South Carolina on September 15, 1933. She peacefully slipped into eternal life with the Lord on Saturday morning, March 9, 2013 in St. Stephen, SC, following a period of declining strength and health. Annie Mae received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. At an early age, Annie Mae accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of St. Peter's A.M.E. Church, Bonneau, SC. She later joined St. Mark A.M.E. Church where she was a dedicated member. She served faithfully in several capacities: Class Leader, Past President of the Senior Choir, Church School Teacher, Steward Board member; and she was active with the Lay Organization. She was a prayerful woman, doing whatever she was called upon to do for her Master. On June 30, 1951, Annie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Leroy Wright who preceded her in death. Annie Mae was active in community and civic affairs. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. Stephen Chapter. She was very involved with the Berkeley County Democratic Party and enthusiastically participated in their activities. Annie Mae was an avid supporter of President Barack Obama and was elated when he was elected the first African American President of the United States. She often gave thanks to God for allowing her the opportunity to live to see this event. Annie Mae was a loveable person who touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor and her love for family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Annie Mae leaves to cherish precious memories: five daughters, Doris Ann McHoney and Margaret (Amos-Deceased) Singleton of Bonneau, SC, Betty (Danny) Smalls and Rose (Steve) Davis of St. Stephen, SC and Gail (John) Nelson of Bonneau, SC; three sons, Henry (Mary) Wright of Columbia, SC, Charles (Celia Ann) Wright of St. Stephen, SC and Roscoe (Shirley) Wright of Bonneau, SC; stepdaughter, Lottie (Albert) Harris of St. Stephen, SC; three brothers, Herbert Savage, Johnnie Savage and Henry Dean Savage of Bonneau, SC; two sisters, Elease (David) Washington, Sr. and Dorothy Winns of Bonneau, SC; one sister-in-law, Mable (Deacon Rockie) Lewis of Fort Lauderdale, FL; thirty-six (36) grandchildren, fifty-four (54) great-grandchildren, and five (5) great, great-grandchildren; special cousins, Hessie Alston of Charleston, SC, Victoria Harper and Norman Cooke of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Annie Mae was preceded in death by a daughter, Lula Bell; and three siblings, Robert Savage, Freddie Savage and Maydie Middleton.
