IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annie Lee
Simmons
August 25, 1945 – August 25, 2017
HER STORY
Annie Lee Smith Simmons , was born to the late OB and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Smith Pou, on August 25, 1945 in Berkeley County, South Carolina.
Annie Lee was a lifelong faithful member of Greater St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served until her health challenged her.
Annie Lee received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County.
Annie Lee at a young age met the love of her life, Envie Simmons, whom she united in Holy Matrimony. As a symbol of love, their union was blessed with a baby girl, Doris.
Annie Lee loved watching soap operas, with the Young and the Restless being her favorite. She also had a love for wrestling and kickboxing, but her true passion was taking care of her family (Envie, Doris, Ma, Maggie, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren), the center of her life. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "Mama". It seems that Annie Lee's mission and purpose was to always make sure everyone else was fine. She lived a simple and peaceful life.
