Antonio Lamont Simmons, also known as "Tonio", son of E.J. Walter Simmons and Deborah Corley, was born on November 13, 1978 in Charleston, South Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Antonio was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, graduating from Berkeley High School in 1997. He received a full athletic scholarship to Charleston Southern University, receiving his B.S. degree in 2002. At an early age, he joined The Ministries of Truth Tabernacle where he served on the youth choir and played the drums. Antonio was passionate about sports. Antonio's coached football at the following schools: Fort Dorchester High School, Loris High School and Kingstree Sr. High School. He was currently the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Cross High School, where he began in 2009. He was also the Head Track Coach. Antonio was source of laughter and joy to each life he touched. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Broughton (Ernestine) and Sidney Mazyck. He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, E.J. Walter Simmons (Birdie) and Deborah Corley (Harold Sr.); his sisters, Latasha Simmons, Lisa Peace, Deshanda Moses (Howard) and April Latoya Simmons; his brothers, Anthony Taylor, Michael Williams (Tarnesha), Damarius Williams, Augustus Williams, Harold Corley Jr. (Barbara) and Kevin Corley; his grandparents, Curly Simmons (Elouise) and Bella Mazyck; a goddaughter, Jada Wigfall; a host of aunts, uncles, grandaunts, granduncles, nieces, nephews, children he took as his own, Akaylah Tierra Gilliard, Marcheaya Brianna Gilliard, Darnell Rivers and Brandon Rivers; his special friend, Demetris Tamiko Rivers; cousins and friends.
