Auther Lee Richardson, (affectionately known as Archie or AU), the loving third child of the late Lewis Richardson and Beauty Manigault Richardson, was born October 16, 1943 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at approximately 12:00 noon in Sumter, South Carolina. Archie graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1963. Following his graduation, he moved to New York City, New York, and began employment as a food service worker at Harlem Hospital for over 30 years. During his years in New York, he was a member of Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Central Islip and maintained membership there until his relocation to Sumter, South Carolina in 1994. Upon relocating, he began employment at Pilgrims Pride Company in Sumter, and he re-established his church attendance at Wesley United Methodist Church in Moncks Corner until his untimely death. Those who shared the joys of life and precious memories with him include: his wife, Thelma Hardnett Richardson; two loving daughters, Aysan Providence (Clifford) of Brentwood, NY and Nykadra Richardson of Brentwood, NY; a devoted mother, Beauty Manigault Richardson of Moncks Corner, SC; one sister, Janie Louise Spence of Moncks Corner, SC; one brother, Richard Richardson of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends who will also miss him dearly.
