Arlene Smith Edwards, the daughter of Gerald S. Smith and Emmaline Singleton Smith, was born on June 17, 1967 in Kingston, New York. She departed this life on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina.

Arlene was educated in the public schools of Ulster County, New York.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Steven Stanley Edwards, Sr. in June of 1984 in Kingston, NY. This union was blessed with a daughter, Nacoya Denise Edwards and a son, Steven Stanley Edwards, Jr. Her husband and daughter both preceded her in death.

Arlene leaves to cherish her memories: her parents; three sons, Steven Stanley Edwards, Jr. of Kingston, NY, Jovon Donte' Campbell and Abraham Brown both of South Carolina; the love of her life, Herman L. Stephenson of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Vivian E. Fox and Anna C. Smith; one brother, Joseph N. Smith; four grandchildren, Steven S. Edwards, III, Silas Edwards, Seth Edwards and Jules Brown; other relatives and friends.
