IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur
Ellington
November 2, 1945 – August 2, 2023
Arthur Ellington went home with God on August 2, 2023. He was born November 2, 1945, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Arthur was the son of the late George and Lou Bertha Ellington.
Arthur graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1966. After graduating, he left South Carolina and relocated to Washington D.C. where he had already secured a job in brick masonry. He would say, "I graduated on Friday, was in D.C. on Sunday, and started work on Monday."
Arthur loved his job as a brick mason. This was one of his greatest talents and he mastered his craft. He worked for General Masonry for 50 years. He was said to have an impeccable work ethic, along with being a great mentor to many of his fellow coworkers.
Arthur was guaranteed to greet you with a smile. He loved music and dancing; he would be the first one on the dance floor. He was a diehard Washington Redskins (Commanders) fan. They could win one out of ten games, and he would still be talking trash. He loved bragging about his 1973 Convertible Pontiac Granville, which he would always say he purchased fresh off the showroom floor. Arthur enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was working in his yard, hanging with his buddies in the garage, washing his vehicles or playing with his dogs Button, Gracie, Tyson and Stormy and Playboy.
Arthur loved his family very much. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Theresa Ellington; daughter Dawn Ellington; grandson Keith Duane Ellington; sisters: Thelma Baylock, Rose Ann Ellington, Doretha (A.C.) Richmond and Olympia Ellington; brothers: Earl (Gina) Ellington, Bruce (Gwen) Ellington Sr., Clifford (Monifa) Ellington and Gene Ellington; uncle, David Ellington Sr.; former wife, Doris Ellington; mother-in-law, Mary Wyatt; sisters-in-law, Ann Ellington, Patrica Wyatt, and Angela Wyatt-Rice; fur babies, Buttons, Gracie and Tyson; grand fur baby, Tootsie; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, family and friends.
Arthur was preceded in death by his son Duane Arthur Ellington; and three brothers, George Ellington, William Robert Ellington and Donnie Ellington.
