Obituary

Arthur Mazyck, son of the late George Temp Mazyck, Sr. and Edna Prioleau Mazyck, was born on April 13, 1943 in St. Stephen, South Carolina. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Arthur was educated in the public school system of Berkeley County. Arthur accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Day Dawn Baptist Church. He also attended various churches in Jersey City, NJ as well. Arthur was employed at Singer Shoprite for forty-six years as a Butcher and served as a Shop Steward. He was also the Union Representative for UFCW Local 464A. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Arthur was known for his many stories and his loud laughter that always lit up the room. His favorite saying was, "Got Ta Mighty" and cheering when he watched his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He always instilled the value of hard work and education in his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George A. Temp Mazyck, Edna Mazyck and Shirley Mazyck-Auguste all preceded him in death. Arthur leaves to cherish his fond memories: his beautiful, devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Betty Jean Delores Thompson Mazyck of St. Stephen, SC; three loving daughters, Kim, Kathy and Sandy Mazyck all of Jersey City, NJ; two sons, Shawn Mazyck, Sr. of Linden, NJ and Quentin Mazyck of Jersey City, NJ; one sister, Dorothy D.M. Mazyck of St. Stephen, SC; one brother, Dr. George Anthony Mazyck of St. Stephen, SC; two aunts, Ethel Cathy (Donald) of Monroe, NC and Rose Mazyck of Brooklyn, NY; one brother-in-law, Allen K. Auguste of Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren: Joshua Baldwin, Kristina and Monique Davis, Marion and Christopher Rouse, Shawn, Jr., Alexia and Amenah Mazyck; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
