From Labor to Reward
Our Beloved Audrey, the fifth of eight children, was born on December 6, 1960, to the late William "Bill" Washington and Shirley Washington. Almighty God quietly led her into eternal rest on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Audrey was educated in the South Carolina Public School System, graduating from Macedonia High School in Moncks Corner in 1978. She continued her post-secondary education at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, SC and North Greenville College (now University of Christian University in Tigerville, SC.
The impeccably stylish Audrey would eventually settle into a fashion retail career. She worked for Casual Corner from 1987 to 1992. She joined TJMaxx in 1992 and remained with the company until health issues dictated her departure from the "fashionista" work force.
While living in Atlanta, she joined the Salem Bible Church where she was active in the coinonia and family life ministries. A job transfer led her to Northern Virginia, and Audrey relocated to Centreville, VA. God ordered her footsteps to the Mount Olive Baptist Church. She became a member in January 2001. While at Mount Olive she served as a Sunday School teacher, director of the outreach ministry, and new member liaison for the Andrew Family of the MOBC Family Life Ministry.
After her return to South Carolina, she made the decision to rejoin Liberty Reformed Episcopal Church in Jamestown in 2013, serving as a vestry board member.
Audrey loved spending time with family, shopping, traveling, ministering to others about God, and teaching the benefits of tithing. She always put God and family first.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving mother, Shirley Washington; seven siblings: Deborah Mazyck, Diane Mustapher (Keith), Annette Hammond, Billie Williamson (Michael Giles), William Washington (Barbara), Gloria Scott (Elvis), and Otis Greene; very special nieces and nephews, Davirick, Tristen, Aleshia, Brittany, Kwan, Tyrone, Jr., Shaniece, Don, Tiara, Corey, Jaalam, Tahj, Ava and Greg, Jr.,; adopted niece, Nina Greene; godson, Justin Greene; and a host of cousins, Savannah Creek family, and numerous friends, near and far.
