Benjamin B. Gadsden, the son of William Gadsden and the late Mary J. Gadsden, was born on November 24, 1963, in Bonneau, South Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Florence, South Carolina at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Benjamin was educated in the Berkeley County Public School System. He graduated from Macedonia High School in the Class of 1982. Upon completing his education, he entered the workforce.
Benjamin spent time in New Haven, Connecticut, and most recently in Timmonsville, SC where he was affectionately known as "Charleston".
Benjamin was preceded in death by his mother, Mary J. Gadsden; and two sisters, Mary Jane Washington and Vivian Gadsden.
Benjamin leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Sarita Woods of Asheville, NC; father, William Gadsden of Bonneau, SC; siblings, Napolean (Yvonne) Gadsden, William (Jackie) Gadsden Jr. of St. Stephen, SC, Juanita Adams, Ronald Gadsden of Bonneau, SC, Barbara (Percy) White of Fayetteville, NC, Emory (Katine) Gadsden and Latechia (Antuan) Faison of Bonneau, SC; two special friends, Trina and Isaac Barr of Timmonsville, SC; special cousin, Julius "Butchie" Gadsden and family of Effingham, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special thanks to his daughter, Sarita Woods and her family for being there from the beginning to the end.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home (Moncks Corner). There will be no viewing on Thursday.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Greater St. Mark AME Church, 918 Black Oak Road, Bonneau, SC. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home's Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/gethersfh
The family will be receiving family and friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A face mask is encouraged when visiting the family.
