Benjamin Legree, son of the late David and Lucinda Haynes Legree, was born January 7, 1929 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Benjamin received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County. He later relocated to Brooklyn, New York and was employed by Dimes Savings Bank, Long Island, New York.

Benjamin returned home to Moncks Corner and became a member of  Mitten Lane Holiness Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and wrestling.

Benjamin was united in holy matrimony to Victoria Queen Middleton. This union was blessed with four children. His wife and two children, Benji Darryl Legree, Jr. and Francena Middleton, preceded him in death.

Benjamin departed this life on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his children, Raymond (Carolyn) Legree, Michael Legree and Delbert Richardson; adopted daughter, Sherry (Joey) Morton; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Legree; sisters-in-law, Sheryl Legree, Adell Vanish and Alfreda Smith Middleton; brothers-in-law, Isaac Middleton and Ronnie Middleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at O. Allen Gethers Jr. Memorial Chapel, Gethers Funeral Home, Inc., Moncks Corner, SC.
