Manigault
September 21, 1921 – March 21, 2019
Benjamin Manigault was born on September 21, 1921 in Kittfield, South Carolina. Benjamin was the son of the late Charles and Ephius Manigault.
Benjamin relocated to New York in 1939 where he worked at Penn railroad. He joined the United States Army in 1943 and traveled the world. He worked for New York Transit Authority for over thirty-five years until retiring. He and his wife returned home to South Carolina to spend the rest of his days amongst his siblings and in his home church, Wesley United Methodist, where he served as an usher and a dedicated member for over thirty years. He was called from his labor to reward on March 21, 2019.
On March 27, 1943, Benjamin married Rebecca Lloyd and their 75 year marriage was blessed with four children. Benjamin wife, Rebecca Manigault preceded him in death.
Benjamin is survived by his four children: Louis Manigault, Jatika Manigault, Marc (Chaya) Manigault and Theresa Hutchison; four grandchildren: Laura (Mance, Sr.) Manigault Irvin, Ron (Carolyne) Marino, Jr., Nina Marino, Donnie Hutchinson, Jr.; six great grandchildren: Camille Irvin, Mance Irvin II, Lloyd Benjamin Irvin, RJ Polk, Karma Elaine Polk and Carlos Lamont Anderson; his siblings: Emily Reid, Samuel Manigault, D. Manigault, Christopher (Margie) Manigault, Booker (Peggy) Manigault, Geraldine Aquart, Delenora Gillins and Willie Manigault and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
