Mr. Bernard Elijah Rivers, son of the late Dorothy Rivers Smalls and the late Elijah Lloyd, was born December 26, 1957 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He departed this life Monday, November 25, 2013 at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC. Bernard, also known as "Trucker" to family and friends, attended the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. He was a 1977 graduate of Berkeley High School. He was employed at MVP Group International in Cainhoy, SC. Bernard was baptized at an early age and joined Anderson Baptist Church. Bernard was united in Holy Matrimony to Sheila Johnson on June 29, 1992. This union was blessed with two children. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy Lloyd and stepfather, Namon Harry Smalls. Those left to cherish his memories are: his beloved wife of 21 years, Sheila Johnson Rivers; children, Kendrick Bernard Rivers and Paulina Ieshia Rivers both of the home; siblings: Jerome Rivers of Moncks Corner, SC, Veronica (Ronald) Richmond of Columbia, SC, Anthony T. Rivers of Jacksonville, NC, Edward Lloyd, Donald Lloyd, Harry Smalls all of Moncks Corner, SC, and Rochelle Lloyd of Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Davis of Orangeburg, SC, Emma Broughton of Eutawville, SC, Linda Johnson, Melvenia Johnson and Sandra Johnson all of St. George, SC; brothers-in-law, Richard Johnson of New York, Clarence Johnson of Eutawville, SC, McKenley Johnson of Staten Island, NY, Harold (Teresa) Johnson of Columbia, SC, Rickey (Deborah) Johnson of St. George, SC and Herbert (Sheila) Johnson of Summerville, SC; seven uncles and eight aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
