Obituary

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." - II Timothy 4:7 Betty Lee Lawrence Rivers, the daughter of the late William Lawrence and Pearlie Perry, was born on December 18, 1947 in Charleston, South Carolina. God called His precious angel home in the early morning of Saturday, March 31, 2012. She was educated in the Berkeley County School System. Betty was such a loving and giving person, if there was anything she could do to help a person in need, consider it done. She was a bus driver for many years for Stratford High School until she retired. Betty was united in Holy Matrimony to Roiley Rivers on May 17, 1980. From this union, they were blessed to share thirteen children. She was a member of Messiah Church of Deliverance, where she served on the Usher Board and Missionary Board. She always wanted to share her love with others. EVERYONE loved her cooking! She would always think of others before thinking of herself. She was also an active member of the Royal Z Lanes Senior Bowling League, where she won numerous awards. Betty was preceded in death by two children, George Leon Walker, III and Jochosia Rivers Quarles and three brothers, Vernus Lawrence, John Lawrence and William Lawrence, Jr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving and devoted husband, Roiley Rivers; eleven loving children, Doretha (Thomas Simmons) Walker, Neomi (David) Fulton, Amanda (James) Eaton, Alberta Rivers, Shonta Rivers, Martina (Allen) Parker, India Rivers, Greg Rivers, Lamont Rivers, Doug Rivers and Justin Rivers all of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Jimmie (Carol) Lawrence and Willard Perry both of Summerville, SC; one sister, Eva Winns of Summerville, SC; two aunts, Petunea (Malachi) Capers and Theresa Walker both of Summerville, SC; her mothers-in-law, Albertha Walker and Lottie Mae Rivers; sisters-in-law, Dorothy A.
