IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bishop Arthur
Lee Manigault
April 23, 1933 – April 23, 2021
Arthur Lee Manigault was born April 23, 1933 to the late Francis Manigault and Reginia Aiken Manigault in Macbeth (Santee Circle) Moncks Corner, SC. He received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County and during his childhood he received Christian teaching as a member of Anderson Baptist Church. After graduating from Berkeley High School, Arthur joined the United States Army.
In 1961, Arthur received an Honorable Discharge from the Army. Living in New York, Arthur met Irene M. Jefferson and on June 27 1958, they were joined in holy matrimony. They resided in Brooklyn, New York. During his years of living in New York, he worked as a butcher at Albright and Kolber and later became employed with Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) Electric Company. After relocating back to Moncks Corner, he worked at and retired from Santee Cooper Electric Company.
Bishop Arthur L. Manigault received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in the early 1960s under the ministry of Calvary Pentecostal Church in Manhattan where Bishop Rosa A. Horne was Pastor. After being baptized and filled with God's Holy Spirit, he was persuaded to live a saved, sanctified life, and to win souls for Christ. He later became a member of Zion Hill Pentecostal Church of the Bronx where Bishop Harry W. Thompson was Pastor. It was under this ministry he was ordained a deacon and served the church faithfully in this capacity. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and eventually he was appointed Sunday School Superintendent. Arthur was a prayer warrior and loved the Word of God. He received his call to the ministry and became a licensed Minister then an ordained Elder. In his season of change and new direction, he moved his membership under the leadership of now the late Apostle Johnnie L. Washington, Overseer of the Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, The Center of Hope Churches Worldwide. Present affiliation, Apostle Willie Bogier, New Hope Tabernacle, Thomasville, NC.
Bishop Manigault graduated from the Tabernacle of Prayer Bible Institute with a certificate in General Bible I and GBII. In the Fall of 1980 with the blessing of Apostle Washington, he moved to South Carolina to begin a ministry for the Lord. The ministry began with Bible Study and prayer in 1981 in the home in the Mitten Lane section of Moncks Corner. The outreach ministry grew with service being held in the Old Masonic Temple on Wall Street in March, 1981 to eventually relocating the church to its own building in the St. Stephens community. His Pastoral-ship was for over 35 years.
Bishop Manigault believed the scriptures and often quoted St. John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." His evangelistic work included witnessing and passing out gospel tracks on street corners, out-reach tent services, prison ministry, and radio broadcast. He was a Berkeley County Chaplain for the Crisis Ministries. He was the recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award under the Administration of President Barack Obama. He was awarded the Volunteer Pin from the South Carolina Department of Correction.
