Calvin Lee Beauford , son of the late Neopolean Beauford and Mary Williams Beauford, was born on February 26, 1937 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, April 17, 2022 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Calvin was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. He was a graduate of Russellville High School, Class of 1955.
Calvin was employed by Santee River Wool, Douglas Aircraft, various construction jobs in the Charleston area, and was self-employed in his business, Beauford's Logging Company. He retired from Berkeley County as a Constable.
Calvin was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Reformed Episcopal Church, where he served as a Vestry Board member, Church Treasurer, Church Secretary, Class Leader and was a member of the Gospel Chorus. He was a member of Laurel Hill Lodge #193, Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliated.
Calvin was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Dorothy Washington on September 27, 1958. This union was blessed with four children.
Calvin's slogan was, "Be wise, let who will be clever."
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy Washington Beauford; son, Clifford "Randy" Beauford; and sister, Eva Wheeler.
Calvin will forever be remembered by: his son, Scott (Rochelle) Beauford; daughters, Carron Beauford and Sabrina B. Wright; daughter-in-law, Vivian Beauford; reared as brothers, Rev. Earl Beauford and Ernest Brown; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Washington; uncle, Arthur (Dorthreen) Williams; a special friend, Wilhelmena Poinsett; special cousins he held dear to his heart like sisters and brothers: The Beaufords from back to the house, Lelia Mae Kinlaw and Jeanette Blackwell; close friends, Ulysses Green, Ervin Brown and Rev. Freddy Moody; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (Moncks Corner). His Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, 12:00 p.m., at the Alvin Community Center, 2191 Santee River Road, St. Stephen, SC. Interment will be in Washington Memorial Cemetery, Jamestown, SC.
