Carrie (Stretch) Green was born on April 15, 1938, to the late Louise Crummie and James Brown in Forty-One, SC.

Carrie attended the public schools of Berkeley County and graduated from Russellville High School in 1955.  She was blessed with her first child, Barbara Jean.

In 1957, Carrie moved to Washington, DC for greater opportunities.  In 1969, Eddie and Carrie were united in Holy Matrimony. This union was blessed with two children, Edmond and Mindy.

She worked various jobs until she joined the Government Printing Office, working for 30 years until retirement.  Carrie always received the highest performance rating and was regarded by all as a top performer.

After retirement, Carrie continued to be a housewife and serve her community by volunteering at Prince Georges County Hospital for 20 years.  She received an award for her outstanding service from the Governor of Maryland.   She enjoyed giving her time and brightening the day of hospital patients.  She took care of her husband of 45 years until his passing in 2014.

She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, watching Jimmy Swaggart, watching sports events including her favorite baseball, boxing, and football.  Carrie was always there for her family and friends, through good and challenging times. She could be relied on to lend a shoulder or a kind word.

She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Barbara Stretch of Charleston SC, Edmond Green and his wife Angela of Oxon Hill, MD, Mindy Green of Columbia, MD; sister, Lucille Milligan; niece, Monica Milligan; nephew, Greg Milligan of Washington D; cousins, Solomon Stretch of New York, NY, Reuben Stretch of Savannah, GA; many stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with a host of other devoted relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1245 Forty One Road, St. Stephen, SC.
