Cathalee Reid, a life-time resident of Moncks Corner, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Monday, the 12th of December after a courageous battle with illness. Born on October 13th, 1920 , she was one of nine children born to the late Catherine Smalls and William Reid. Cathalee was raised and lived in Moncks Corner all of her life. Cathalee accepted Christ into her life at an early age and remained a faithful member of Grace Reformed Episcopal Church. After graduating from Berkeley County Schools and Avery Institute in Charleston, South Carolina, Cathalee received her Bachelor's degree from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, South Carolina. From that time on she followed her passion of teaching and taught in Berkeley County School District for over 30 years. She educated legions of students until she was no longer able to teach in a school setting. Cathalee then continued to educate and inspire anyone who had the good fortune to be in her presence. Cathalee will forever be remembered by her devoted family; brother Isaac Reid (Doris), niece and care-giver Ruth Reid, nephew and care-giver Joseph Weathers (Evelyn), life time supportive friend Ethel G. Davis, nephews, Melvin Johnson (Redonia), John Reid (Anita) and Robert Weston, nieces Margretta Fairweather and Renee Reid (Timothy Handy) along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know her. Cathalee loved her family and students and was known for her passionate opinions and her willingness to engage any and everyone in spirited dialogue. Cathalee touched the lives of many people with her strong will and spirit. Although, for several years her physical condition did not afford her mobility, her mind remained sharp and she maintained her trademark sense of keen wit and intelligence until her passing. There truly was never a dull moment when Cathalee was around.
