Cathy Trescott Owens, daughter of Rev. Clarence B. Trescott, II and Rev. Gertrude Haynes Trescott, was born November 21, 1955 in Savannah, GA. She transitioned into glory on April 7, 2009. She graduated from Berkeley High School, Moncks Corner, SC in 1973. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC in 1977. Cathy worked in the Berkeley County School system for several years. Her later years of employment were at her alma mater, South Carolina State University, as a Fiscal Analyst. Cathy became a member of Moncks Corner AME at a young age. While living in Orangeburg, SC, she joined New Mt. Zion Baptist church under watch care. She was joined in wedlock to Ralph E. Owens. Making people laugh brought joy to Cathy. She was straight forward and very direct, but was also extremely generous. Her children were the center of her life. Cathy loved her job at SCSU and her co-workers became her second family. Among family, friends and co-workers, she was famous for her "My Man" cookies. Everyone anticipated receiving these cookies from her at Christmas. Thanksgiving family gatherings were incomplete without her dump cake and lemon bars. Those who rejoice at her transition but will also deeply miss her presence are her son, Jason Haynes Owens of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Krystal Elizabeth Owens, Orangeburg, SC; mother, Rev. Gertrude H. Trescott, Moncks Corner; father, Rev. Clarence B. Trescott, II (Dr. Erminel), Talladega, AL; sister, Tanya T. Harper (Rev. Remus), Goose Creek, SC; brothers, Bartholomew Trescott (Attorney Liza B.), Kernersville, NC, Clarence B. Trescott, III and Simon Trescott, Talladega, AL; aunt, Cecile Bromery (Dr. Randolph W.); nephews, Mario M. Harper (Yolanda), Spartanburg, SC, Remus E. Harper (Kimberly), Moncks Corner, SC; niece, Carmen N. V.
