Celya “Janie” Jane Rosner, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, leaving behind a cherished legacy of faith, creative artistry, and devoted service. Born on November 6, 1943, in Bridgewater, New Jersey, to the late Constance Peterson Rosner and Fred Rosner, Janie brought faith, warmth, and artistic beauty to all who knew her.

Janie spent much of her life in Bridgewater, New Jersey, residing on Dartmouth Avenue for over two decades before relocating to Summerville, South Carolina, in May 2010. Over her 16 years as a resident of Summerville, she cultivated a rich life centered on church fellowship, community engagement, and charitable devotion.

Her spiritual path was marked by grace and active involvement. Her journey in South Carolina began at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in Summerville, where she joined a Wednesday women’s group dedicated to organizing the annual Spring Tea fundraiser. Inspired by this sisterhood and their weekly Bible study, Janie embraced baptism and confirmation. Her steps were later ordered to St. Paul’s Reformed Episcopal Church in Moncks Corner after hearing an inspiring guest speaker. As a faithful member for seven years, she served with distinction on the Vestry and as Church Secretary, tirelessly facilitating enhancements to the church she loved. In March 2026, she visited Mt. Olivet R.E. Church, where she subsequently joined and was warmly embraced and loved by the congregation.

Beyond her church leadership, Janie held a deep passion for charitable work, actively supporting Water Mission, the International African American Museum, and One Humanity. Blessed with exceptional artistic talents, she created handcrafted jewelry and penny crosses, which she joyfully and freely distributed as tokens of love and faith.

Janie is lovingly remembered by her sister, Bonnie Constance Phillips; her cherished nieces, Jamie Phillips and Liza Jane Phillips; as well as a host of beloved church members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Reformed Episcopal Church, 4283 Savannah Highway, Ravenel, SC.
