LIFE STORY OF Charlie Shine, Sr., the son of the late William and Mary Shine, was born on April 28, 1929 in the "Hog Swamp" Community of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. His flight to immortality occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2015 when the Lord dispatched His angels to Hospice of Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, SC to fly him to Glory, where there is no more sickness or troubles. Charlie, also affectionately called "Uncle Charlie" attended the public schools of Berkeley County. He was employed at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, SC as a bus driver for active military personnel and worked faithfully until his retirement. In 1949, Charlie was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Sarah Jones, who preceded him in death. Knowing that it was not God's plan for man to walk this life alone, he later married the former Robesena Wright of Bonneau, SC. Accepting Christ as his personal savior, Charlie joined Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church where he served faithfully until his health failed. Charlie served in the following capacities: President of the Usher Board, Leader of Leaders, President of the Men of the Church and was Senior or Rector's Warden for thirty (30) plus years before retiring because of age limitations. Charlie had a great love for life, never meeting a stranger. He enjoyed praying, fishing and especially talking. He also possessed a great passion for singing which led him to become a member of the Stars of Hope and later the Berkeley Male Choir. He was a member of Moncks Corner Lodge #323, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons, where he served as Chaplain Emeritus. Those left to mourn his passing but cherish his memory are: his loving and devoted wife, Robesena; five children, Patricia Copeland (David), Betty Shine both of Moncks Corner, SC, Sandra Reid-Hamm (Ricky) of Summerville, SC, Charlie Shine, Jr. (Annie) and Kelly Shine (Sharon) both of Moncks Corner, SC; fourteen grandchildren: Selwyn, Patreece, Dana, Bradford II, David Jr., Corinth, Kelley, Willie, Patrick, Kia, Kelly Jr., Charles, Kiesha and Keenan; sixteen great-grandchildren: Jayan, Sh'Nya, Deuce, Jayda, Pierson, Kimari, Cyrus, Maddox, Dayton, JR, Dawson, Cayden, Kingston, Raya, Kalvyn and CJ; two stepsisters; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
