Christine Smith, the daughter of the late Elder Testie and Mrs. Sadie Smith was born in Moncks Corner, SC, on December 2, 1951. She transitioned peacefully from earth to heaven surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Christine was a member of Canaan Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Longridge Community of Moncks Corner, SC where she accepted her Lord and Savior at an early age. Christine graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1970. She later worked in the Gospel Four Community Store before relocating to New York City, where she became a member of First Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY. She quickly gained employment working in the medical field for 30 plus years.

While Christine never married, she lived a full and vibrant life, where she devoted most of her time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends (e.g. collard greens, macaroni & cheese, apple pie, sweet potato pie, coconut pie and peach cobbler) as they regularly congregated.

Christine retired in December 2017 and relocated back to her hometown Moncks Corner, SC  in June 2018. She became an active member at her childhood church where she served faithfully in many capacities. She was an usher, fundraiser, member of the pulpit aide board, and senior ministry. She also helped to distribute food from the food bank to the community during the pandemic.

Christine was an extraordinary mother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend with an extremely welcoming spirit! She had a love for cooking, shopping, traveling and spending quality time with her family.  She had the ability to sense when people needed her. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She was adored and loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her son, Sean Smith; siblings, Nathaniel Smith (Tillie William-Smith), John Frank and Nicole Smith; nieces, LaTanya McIver, Kimberly Smith-Allen, Patrina Smith, John Frank Smith Jr.; great nieces, Jaynai Allen, Jayda Allen; great nephew, Jordan Allen; special aunts, Elouise Smith, Ruth Smith-Stevens, special sister-cousin Rosa Thomas-King, Harriet Mazyck, Patricia Simmons, Carol Santos, special niece Kristin Thomas; special nephew, Roland Thomas Jr.; bonus sister, Karen Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents Elder Testie and Mrs. Sadie Smith; her brother, Testie Smith, Jr.; aunts, Carrie Mazyck, Lula Thomas, Esie Cummings, Sarah Williams-Mazyck, Daisy Majors, Rebecca Mazyck, Laura Hewitt, Mary Duberry, Carrie Simmons, Naomi Smalls, Earline Mazyck, Bertha Morton, Essie Green; uncles, Isaac Mazyck, Peter Mazyck, Ezekial Smith, and Arthur Lee Smith, Sr.

Viewing will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Canaan Christian Church, 1232 Queenie Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at Canaan Christian Church. Final resting place will be in Canaan Christian Church Memorial Garden, 1351 Sheep Island Road, Summerville SC 29486.
