IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cloten S.
Peace
February 21, 1928 – March 8, 2019
Cloten S. Peace, a daughter of the late Ruby Smalls and Adgie Martin, was born February 21, 1928 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
Cloten was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
Cloten accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Greater St. James A.M.E. Church.
Cloten was joined in Holy Matrimony to Montague A. Peace Sr. on August 25, 1951. This union was blessed with three children.
Cloten was a nurturing mother who dedicated her life to her spouse and children. Upon her twin sister's death, she instantly stepped in to help with the care of her four nieces and raised them as her own. Cloten enjoyed tending to her many flowers and plants. She also enjoyed cooking and brewing her famous sweet tea. She also had a very special gift of healing thrush in young children. Cloten was a very outspoken and social person who loved "good" company.
Cloten transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on March 8, 2019, in Moncks Corner South Carolina. Her "tell it like it is" attitude will always be remembered.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her three children, Montague A. Peace Jr. (Carol), Angela P. Harris (Johnny), and Stanley Peace (Fatima) of Moncks Corner, SC; three sisters, Joyce Forrest, Vera Butler, and Edna Lary of Moncks Corner, SC; eight grandchildren, Montague A. Peace III, Shantelle Peace, and Cedric Peace of Moncks Corner, SC, Ashley Winns (Darryl Jr.) of Savannah, GA and Johnny D. Harris of Moncks Corner SC, Michelle Peace, Cheryl Peace, and Shawn Peace of Ladson SC; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Cloten was preceded in death by: her husband, Montague A. Peace Sr.; her two brothers, Raymond and Wilford Smalls; her twin sister, Celestine Smalls, and two younger sisters, Azalee Harris and Jeanie Lawrence; her oldest granddaughter, Danielle Monica Peace.
