Cohen Spann was born on August 19, 1923 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Loverter Ann McKinley. Cohen went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2009 in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Cohen attended schools in Berkeley County. He later attended schools in Charleston County where he earned his high school diploma. Cohen was a life long member of Calvary African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a Trustee. He was united in holy matrimony to Arlene Spann who preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory: children, Maria Anderson (Robert) of Tallmadge, OH, Robyn Spann of Huger, SC, William Spann (Carolyn) and Beverly Spann of Charleston, SC; one brother, Edgar Spann of Washington, DC; a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
