Obituary

Give her of the fruit of her hands; And let her own works praise her in the gates. - Proverbs 31:31 On May 11, 1934 in Manning, South Carolina, a beautiful flower was planted to one Abie Jackson and Hattie Bell Jackson. Little did they know that this seed would evolve and mature into a beautiful and unique flower. One that would touch and change all of the lives that she came in touch with. That beautiful flower was Daisy Lou Jackson. All around, Daisy was known for her unique and sassy sense of humor. On April 8, 2009, Daisy peacefully departed to her eternal home after having left an everlasting smile and sweet spirit in the hearts of all that knew her. Daisy, affectionately known as "Moot", received her education through Greeleyville Training School. Daisy grew up in Manning, SC with her eight siblings, five of which preceded her in death: Abie Jackson Jr., Hollis Jackson, Henry James Montgomery, Isaiah Jackson and James Albert Jackson. "Moot" attended St. James Baptist Church in Greeleyville, SC, and later began attending Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Salters/Lane area. She later became a bona fide and faithful member of the House of God Keith Dominion in St. Stephen, SC, where she served on various committees, including the Usher Board. She also served as a Ward Leader of Ward Number One until her health began to fail. "Moot" worked diligently at Carolina Nursery as a horticulturist. As the seasons changed, Daisy traveled between North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida seeking work to make sure that ends were met. Daisy possessed a strong love for fishing, cooking, canning and caring for animals. Daisy was united in matrimony to the late Samuel Gamble and from this union brought forth her two children, Samuel Gamble Jr. and Willie Gamble. Both children preceded her in death. She later joined in matrimony to the late Deacon Preston Simon. She and "Prest", along with her two younger sisters and church brother, Edward Croker, traveled frequently and diligently to various counties to attend and aid in the growth and advancement of the churches they visited. After the death of Deacon Simon, Daisy continued to labor and attend services regularly until her health failed. In the late 1990s, "Moot" married the late David Lee Waring who preceded her in death on October 14, 2008. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give at that day. - II Timothy 4:7-8a
