David A. Erby, son of General Patrick and Silvia Brown Patrick, was born on May 28, 1955 in Bronx, New York. He departed his life on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 11:30 p.m., in the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston, SC.

David graduated from Clinton High School and attended Trident Technical College. He served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He later was employed at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

David was united in holy matrimony to Angela Marie Gant on May 29, 1998.

David was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

David's hobbies were: grilling, shopping, gardening, listening to music, painting, and  spending time with family and friends.

David's memories will always be cherished by: his wife, Angela M. Erby; children, Doreen Scott (Kenneth), Tanya Gray, David Washington, Tamika Washington, Saedricka Gantt and Latrice Gibbs (Johnathan); 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren;  and a host of family and friends.

David was preceded in death by a son, Dominic Gibbs.

His memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023, 2:00 p.m., at the O. Allen Gethers, Jr. Memorial Chapel, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. Face masks are required.
