On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, God sent his angel to Beth Israel Medical Center to call our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend home. He was surrounded by his loving family when he left his earthly home. David McNeil Jr. was born on June 15, 1942 in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of the late David McNeil Sr. and Fernetha Smalls McNeil. David received his education in the Berkeley County schools and was a graduate of Berkeley Training High School. On April 1, 1965, David married the former France Pridgen. This union was blessed with one daughter, Erika McNeil. David was employed with the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority where he served as a bus operator for 24 years until his retirement. After his career with the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority, David worked alongside his wife at Matel Realty. David joined Williamsburg Christian Church Disciples of Christ (The Lighthouse Christian Church) in Brooklyn, NY where he served as an usher and was later ordained as a Deacon. David McNeil Jr. will be forever remembered for his love of fishing, travelling, cooking, watching the same movies over and over again, and falling asleep wherever he went. Left to cherish his memories are: a loving a devoted wife, Frances McNeil; a daughter, Erika McNeil of Piscataway, NJ; a grandson, Malachi David Vital of New York City, NY; a sister, Shirley Dyer of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, Charles McNeil (Ann) of Suffern, NY and Jerome McNeil of Charleston, SC; a godson, Michael MaGee of San Diego, CA; a goddaughter, Michelle Pridgen of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
