God looked throughout the earth. He looked far and near. He needed a distinct voice for the right wing of His heavenly choir, and He called home his faithful servant David Washington, Sr. David Washington, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, May 16, 2014, at Trident Medical Center, after a period of declining strength and health. David, affectionately known as "Little Son", was born January 1, 1922, in North Hampton, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Annie Washington. He was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. David was later drafted into the United States Army where he served during World War II. He received an honorable discharge after years of service. He was employed with the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a road maintenance technician for 35 years until retirement. David was a faithful member of the St. John Lodge No. 349, F.&A.M., PHA. His other passions included: baseball, farming and singing. The greatest achievement of his life was the day he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. David became a loyal and dedicated member of Mount Carmel African Methodist Episcopal Church, serving in numerous capacities. He was a dedicated Class leader and a member of the Trustee Board. He was also a member of numerous choirs: Senior Choir, Male Choir, Spiritual Wings, and the Berkeley Male Choir. His soulful, passionate singing left an impression on many who were blessed to hear this anointed vocalist. David was united in holy matrimony to Elease Savage on December 26, 1948.
