IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deacon Christopher
C. Smalls, Sr.
October 21, 1944 – February 24, 2019
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
II Corinthians 4:18
A Time to be Born
Christopher C. Smalls, Sr., son of Lewis and Emma Judge Smalls, was born October 21, 1944, in Pineville, South Carolina.
A Time to Worship
Deacon Christopher accepted Christ as the Lord and Savior at an early age, and he was a lifetime member of Day Dawn Baptist Church.
A Time to Work
Christopher was educated in the public school system of Berkeley County and graduated from Russellville High School Class of 1963. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, he was employed by General Electric for 30 plus years as a Non-Destructive Testing Specialist. His work with GE afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. Some of the countries he visited were Italy (his favorite, specifically, Milan), Brazil and China.
A Time to Embrace
Christopher loved his family and deeply enjoyed when his children and grandchildren would visit for the holidays, recording every moment spent with them for safe keeping. He also enjoyed fishing, serving the Lord, spending time with his lifelong best friend Aaron Greene, but his passion was gardening, which started early spring and went until the frost came. And he never refused visiting the shut-ins with Deacon Milligan, praying words of comfort to families.
A Time to Die
Christopher entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
A Time to Mourn
As Christopher joins his late father and mother, along with his sisters Beatrice and Annie Mae, brothers Isaac and Henry, he leaves to mourn: his loving wife of 50 years, Theresa Knowles Smalls; his children, Christopher C. (Julie) Smalls II, Aaron Smalls, Brittani Smalls, Dante (Tammy) Smalls, Michelle (Terrance) Smalls Chandler, and his devoted grandchildren, Christopher C. Smalls III, Kayla Smalls and Alexa Smalls. He also leaves behind his siblings, Clarence (Dorothy) Small and Rebecca Smalls Bryant, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, Aaron Greene, Earl Williams and Andrew Milligan, who will all cherish his fond memories.
