Deacon Johnnie Gadson, Jr. was born December 12, 1949 in Moncks Corner, SC, son of Mr. Johnny Gadsden, Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Lee Ferguson Gadsden. Johnnie departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Johnnie, known to family and friends as "Fox" or "Bugg", received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County. He was employed by Seco Company, Inc. for many years.
Johnnie accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and began his Christian pilgrimage at Holy Comforter Reformed Episcopal Church. He later transferred his membership to the Ministries of Truth Tabernacle where he was ordained a Deacon.
Johnnie was united in holy matrimony to Gwendolyn Sharper. This union was blessed with nine children.
Johnnie was a loving and caring person. He enjoyed making others laugh as he knew that laughter was good for the soul. His passions included hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, gentle spirit and unwavering faith in God.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Gwendolyn S. Gadson; nine children, Mark (Della) Pyatt, Venus (Roscoe Jackson) Gadsden, Michele Bowman, Olivia Goodwine, Shanika Goodwine, Myra Sharper, Myiesha (Tremaine) Sumter, Angel Sharper and Marla Sharper; his mother, Ethel Lee Gadsden; five siblings, Barbara Goodwine, Mary (Harris) Borden, Cynthia (Jerome) Fulton, Geneva (David) Pinckney and Dexter (Debra) Gadsden; thirteen grandchildren, Tonaige, Trey, Jayon, Aiden, Raven, Dana Jr., Damein, Destiny, Adonis, Aaliyah, Aaron, Kanye and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Keondre and London; mother-in-law, Edna Powers; sisters-in-law, Thomasena Gadsden, Yolanda Sharper, Jacqueline Jones, Tanya (William) Phifer; brothers-in-law, Gerard Jones and Frank Sharper, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Gadsden, Sr.; two brothers, Edward and Clyde Gadsden; and a grandson, Rahkeem White.
