Deacon Wilfred Simmons, a son of the late Lemirah Simmons and Ella Varner Simmons, was born November 21, 1944 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at home. surrounded by a loving family.

Wilfred was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. He was employed at Bi-Lo grocery store and later at Piggly Wiggly grocery store.

Wilfred was a dedicated member of Trinity Holiness Church where he served faithfully until his health declined. He served as a Deacon and shared his musical talent by playing the guitar and drums during the services. He was a man of faith and lived life serving others.

Wilfred was united in Holy Matrimony to Viola Smith. This union was blessed with three children.

Wilfred enjoyed fishing. He was also a Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers fan. He was committed to his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be remembered for his kindness, his gentle spirit and his unwavering faith in God.

Those left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Viola Simmons of the home; children, Charlene Jones of Nyack, NY, Carolyn (Isaac) Saxby of Moncks Corner, SC and Wilford (Vatonia) Simmons, Jr. of North Charleston, SC; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Elouise Duberry of Bridgeport, CT, Alma (Willie Lee) Weldon of Ridgeville, SC, Gloria (Alversal) Lawson of Bridgeport, CT, Francena (William) Heyward of Spring Valley, NY and Robert Lee (Virginia) Simmons of Moncks Corner, SC; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Simmons of Louisiana and Alethia Simmons of Moncks Corner, SC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wilfred was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Ruffin Simmons, Alton Simmons and Leroy Simmons; and son-in-law, David Jones.

Viewing will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Private Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Memorial Cemetery, Moncks Corner, SC.
