On May 25, 2011, Ransom was called home for eternal rest after a long illness. Ransom, who was affectionately called "Son" by his close friends and family, grew up in the Old Field Community of Saint Stephen, SC and was educated in Berkeley County School District. Upon moving to Philadelphia, he joined the Nazareth Baptist Church and was ordained a Deacon. He then joined Zion Baptist church and in his later years he attended the Philadelphia Baptist Church where he was the Chairman of the Deacon Board. Ransom was someone you could really count on.
