Obituary

Deaconess Ruthie B. Ferguson, a daughter of the late Allen Lloyd and Albertha Gadsden Lloyd, was born on October 29, 1943 in Pineville, South Carolina.  She transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on May 19, 2016 in Moncks Corner, SC.

Ruthie was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC and was a 1962 graduate of Russellville High School.  She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and attended Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church, Pineville, SC.

On August 5, 1972, Ruthie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Norris Lee Ferguson. This union was blessed with three children. After marriage, Ruthie became a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, SC where she served faithfully as President of the Senior Choir, Youth Choir Director and as a Deaconess.

Ruthie was a nurturing mother, not only to her own children, but also to many other children whom she gave her personal attention to over the years. She enjoyed shopping, fishing, attending to her many flowers and plants, and collecting goldfish.  She will be remembered for her loving heart and her gentle spirit.

Ruthie was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Camden Miller; and five siblings.

She leaves to treasure her memories: a devoted and dedicated husband, Norris L. Ferguson of the home; three children, Derrick (Margaret) Ferguson of New York, NY, Leticia Ferguson and Dontay (Latashia) Ferguson of  Moncks Corner, SC; nine grandchildren: Andre, Dimitri, Tailore, Jamauree, Brittaney, Deontae, Milton, Doneisha and Tayvon; two  great-grandchildren; three brothers, Nathaniel Lloyd, Jack (Willette) Lloyd and Anthony Lloyd of Pineville, SC; one sister, Eartha (Junior) Brown of Port St. Lucie, FL; two brothers-in-law, Earvin (Earnestine) Ferguson of Bonneau, SC and Bruce (Theresa) Ferguson of South Plainfield, NJ; four sisters-in-law, Betty Lloyd, Jane Lloyd and Emma Lloyd of New York and Gloria Ferguson of St. Stephen, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
