Obituary

Mrs. Deborah Lee Joyner, daughter of the late Crayton Edward McElveen, Sr. and Alma Bernice McElveen, was born January 11, 1970 in Cherry Point, North Carolina. She departed this life on April 2, 2020 at Summerville Hospice House, Summerville, South Carolina.

Deborah was educated in the public schools of Prince William County, Virginia.

In February of 1998, Deborah was joined in Holy Matrimony to  Hubert Joyner who she affectionately called "Babe". Through this union, she was blessed with four stepchildren.

Mrs. Joyner or Debbie, as she was affectionately known, was loved by many. She had a vivid memory and a nickname for everyone she loved. She was a hardworking and strong-willed woman who enjoyed cooking and helping take care of her nieces and nephews. During her life, she relied on her inner strength and her belief that God would never forsake her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband of 22 years, Hubert Joyner; two sisters, Violet Carter of St. Stephen, SC and Doris McElveen of Moncks Corner, SC; two brothers, Michael McElveen of Moncks Corner, SC and Jihad Green of Dumfries, VA; four stepdaughters, Theresa Joyner of Suitland, MD, Patricia Joyner, Mary Young both of Dumfries, VA and Alice Saxton of Niles, MI; one goddaughter, Shantay Thomas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Crayton Edward McElveen, Jr.
