"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord…
for they rest from their labours"
Revelation 14:13
Mrs. Denise G. Reid, beloved daughter of the late Mr. Leroy Reid and Mrs. Mattie Mae Bishop Reid, was born on June 14, 1964 in New York City, New York. Having fought the good fight of faith, she received her wings to glory on Monday, May 6, 2019 at her residence in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
Denise, affectionately called "Niecey" by some family members, received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County after moving with her family to South Carolina in the early 1970s. Denise graduated from Berkeley High School in 1982. She received several certificates for Clinical Nursing from various Nursing Facilities. She worked at Omooo Care Facility, Active Day Adult Care and White Oak Manor until her health declined.
At an early age, Denise joined Moncks Corner A.M.E. Church where she served on the Youth Choir and was a member of the Young People's Division (YPD).
On June 22, 1991, Denise married the love of her life, Michael Reid. She became Denise Reid Reid and "never had to change her monogram."
Denise was a loving, caring and private person and will be missed by all who knew her. She had a quiet demeanor, but when she spoke, everyone listened; she was a confidante. She was always willing to give and lend a helping hand. She was "slow to speak but quick to listen."
Denise's fond memories will be cherished by her devoted husband and caregiver, Michael Reid; her pet pooch, Chuckie; five sisters-in-law, Mary Alice (Cleveland) Nelson, caregiver and mentor Reverend Dorothy (Freddie) Duncan both of Moncks Corner, SC, Peggy (Edward) Smalls of New York City, NY, Etta Reid of Wilmington, DE, and Mae Reid of Moncks Corner, SC; one brother-in-law, Floyd (Patricia) Reid of Wilmington, DE; one uncle, Samuel (Vera) Darby of Moncks Corner, SC; one aunt, Leola Darby of Moncks Corner, SC; a devoted first cousin, Darcenia R. Rivers, Herline Johnson, Ethel Gadsden, Isaiah Ferguson, Henry Ferguson all of Cordesville, SC and Rose (James) Boykin of Barnwell, SC. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and very dear friends.
